LOWER BROADWAY · NASHVILLE
421 Broadway, Nashville, TN
Alan Jackson’s honky-tonk – live music 7 days a week.
AJ’s Good Time Bar opened in 2016 and is owned by Alan Jackson, which sets the tone for the whole place. Where a lot of the celebrity bars chase a modern party crowd, AJ’s leans toward traditional country, the kind Jackson built his career on. The building at 421 Broadway has a long history of its own, having served as a Civil War hospital and later as the home of Bullet Records.
There are three floors and a rooftop, and each has its own purpose. The ground floor is the honky-tonk with the main live-music stage. The second floor is a sports bar. The third is a karaoke bar called the Hullbilly. The rooftop, AJ’s Star Bar, sits on top. Billboard has named it the number one honky-tonk on Broadway. The crowd skews toward country-music fans who actually came for the music.
Private events are bookable. AJ’s is the pick if you want a classic-country honky-tonk feel with a real artist’s name behind it and the option to either watch a game or sing yourself. It is less of a thumping party floor than places like Kid Rock’s, and that is the point of it.
The live-music lineup for AJ’s Good Time Bar is part of the Bars on Broadway schedule, refreshed every morning and night. Check tonight’s Broadway lineup →
