Big Jimmy’s is a burger-and-beer bar at 109 2nd Avenue North, a short walk off Broadway. It is one of the newer additions to the area, and the exact opening date is not well documented, but the concept is clear enough from the first minute inside.

The pitch here is simple and a little contrarian for this part of town: it is deliberately quieter than the bars on Broadway proper. Instead of a full band cranking through covers, Big Jimmy’s runs acoustic performers who play across genres and take requests. The kitchen does burgers, spicy chicken, and flatbread pizzas, and a bucket of four beers runs twenty dollars. The crowd is people who wanted a real meal and live music they can talk over.

Come here when the volume of Broadway has worn you down and you want to sit, eat, and hear a guitar player without raising your voice. It is food-forward and low-key by design. If you came for the loud, packed honky-tonk night, look up the street instead.
