LOWER BROADWAY · NASHVILLE
409 Broadway, Nashville, TN
Three stages of the best live music in Nashville.
Nudie’s Honky Tonk opened in 2016 at 409 Broadway, inside a three-story building roughly a century old. It is owned by Bill Miller, the same person behind Nashville’s Johnny Cash Museum, and that collector’s instinct shows up everywhere in the building.
The bar is named for Nudie Cohn, the rhinestone tailor who dressed Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Elvis and a long list of others in the elaborate suits that defined a whole era of country style. Nudie’s displays real costumes and memorabilia tied to that history, so the place doubles as a small museum. It also holds a genuine record: the longest bar in Nashville, running more than 100 feet and embedded with close to 10,000 silver dollars. There are three stages, multiple bars, and a rooftop deck. The crowd is the standard Broadway tourist mix.
Nudie’s is the pick for country-music history fans who want memorabilia and a distinctive room rather than another generic party floor. The silver-dollar bar and the Nudie Cohn costumes are things you will not see anywhere else on the street, and they make this one worth a deliberate stop.
