The Gulch is a 2010s urban-redevelopment neighborhood half a mile southwest. New buildings, cocktail-focused bars, upscale-casual restaurants, young professional date night.
You want live country music in the background. You want to walk a strip bar to bar. You’re celebrating something loud. You want the Instagram photos. You’re a first-time visitor.
You want a cocktail bar where you can hold conversation. You’re on a date. You’re entertaining friends who don’t drink country. You want a restaurant serious about food. The weather is bad.
The Patterson House. Flagship cocktail bar. Reservation required. $18 cocktails. 90 minutes inside.
Saint Anejo. Mexican small plates and serious tequila program.
Whiskey Kitchen. Whiskey selection plus real food kitchen.
L27 at the JW Marriott rooftop. The best view of downtown in the city. Expensive.
Saint Anejo, The 404 Kitchen, Adele’s (Jonathan Waxman), Otaku Ramen for late food, Catbird Seat for tasting menu. Six or eight reservation-worthy options. Broadway has maybe two.
Night 1 (Friday): Broadway full experience.
Night 2 (Saturday): Gulch night. Cocktails at Patterson House, dinner at Adele’s, nightcap at L27 rooftop.
Night 3 (Sunday): Hybrid. Brunch in Germantown, afternoon honky-tonk, dinner casual, close at Bourbon Street in Printers Alley.
12 minutes on foot, 5 minutes by Lyft. After 11 PM, take a Lyft ($8-$11). Before 7 PM, walk.
