Most Broadway honky-tonks allow kids until 6 PM. Some until 8 or 9. After hours, 21-and-up. Reasonable window: 11 AM to 6 PM.
2 PM Acme Feed and Seed. Most kid-friendly venue on Broadway. Real kitchen, kid menu items, music at moderate volume in the afternoon. 75 minutes.
3:15 PM Robert’s Western World. Afternoon trio at manageable volume. Order a recession special and split. 30 minutes.
3:45 PM Hatch Show Print, 224 5th Avenue South. Live letterpress demonstrations. Kids love the printing presses. 30 minutes.
4:15 PM Country Music Hall of Fame. Age-appropriate exhibits. Adult $26, kids 6-12 $16, under 5 free. 90 minutes.
Acme. All day. Most kid-friendly.
Robert’s. Until 6 PM.
Tootsie’s. Until 6 PM but loud and crowded.
Honky Tonk Central. Until 6 PM. Three-floor density makes it impractical.
Layla’s, Bourbon Street, Whiskey Bent. Until 6 PM.
Margaritaville and Jason Aldean’s. More family-restaurant adjacent. Forgettable food.
Rooftops. Generally not allowed after 5 PM.
The neon signs at sunset. Street performers (bring small bills). A traditional country trio at Robert’s (real instruments, real musicians).
Acme kid menu. Robert’s recession special. Hattie B’s (10-min Lyft) for hot chicken. Pancake Pantry. Loveless Cafe.
The Sounds at First Horizon Park (minor league baseball). Ryman tours. Pinewood Social bowling. Hotel pool.
JW Marriott (pool), the Sheraton (family-oriented), Embassy Suites on Demonbreun (suites, kitchen), the Westin (pool + multiple food options). Boutique hotels are worse for kids who want a pool.
The 6 PM to 9 PM Robert’s-Layla’s run is okay for 13-and-up. After 9, the bachelorette wave and alcohol density make it not work.
Broadway with kids works in the 11 AM to 6 PM window. Acme is the anchor. Robert’s is secondary. After 6 PM, transition to the Hall of Fame, dinner off-strip, hotel pool.
