Events that matter

CMA Fest June 4-7: highest density of year. July 4 fireworks: ball-drop equivalent. Titans games: pre-game crowds. CMA Awards early November: hotel rates 3x. NYE: crowds + surge. Tin Pan South March: quality music. St Patrick’s Day: spring kickoff.

One-night Broadway plan

5:30 Acme rooftop. 6:45 Robert’s. 7:45 Layla’s. 8:45 HTC second floor. 9:45 Bourbon Street in Printers Alley. 4 hours, 5 bars, $80-$130 per person.

Two-night plan

Night one rotation above. Night two: 6 PM Bar Rōka, 7:30 Germantown dinner (Rolf and Daughters reservation), 9:30 Patterson House in the Gulch, 11 PM Skull’s Rainbow Room.

Three-night plan

Add a reset day: Henrietta Red brunch in Germantown, Country Music Hall of Fame, 6 PM Etch dinner, 8 PM songwriter round at Listening Room Cafe, 10:30 PM walk Riverfront Park.

Do-not-do list

Don’t request “Wagon Wheel,” “Don’t Stop Believin’,” anything by Jimmy Buffett. Don’t yell “Freebird.” Don’t tip the band $1 in change. Don’t try all 37 bars in one night. Don’t book a Broadway-facing hotel if you’re a light sleeper. Don’t drive. Don’t eat your main meal on Broadway. Don’t pay covers without a reason. Don’t try to make Broadway after 7 PM work with small children.
