What’s Actually Open Before 10 AM on Broadway

Broadway at 8 AM is one of Nashville’s hidden experiences. The neon is still on. The street is mostly empty. The buildings look the way the photographers want them to look. Almost nobody is up.

If you wake up early in your Broadway hotel, you have an hour or two of Broadway-to-yourself before the city wakes up.

The honest reality

Most Broadway bars don’t open until 11 AM or noon. The early-morning Broadway scene is coffee, breakfast, and walking. Not drinks.

The coffee shops

Frothy Monkey, 235 5th Avenue South. Opens at 7 AM. The closest serious coffee to Broadway. Good espresso, real pastries, breakfast menu until 11. If you order one thing at one place in the morning on a Broadway trip, this is it.

Bongo Java at the Bobby Hotel. Opens at 6 AM. Good for a morning office.

Crema Coffee Roasters, 15 Hermitage Avenue. Opens at 7 AM. 10-minute walk south. The pour-over program is excellent.

Breakfast that delivers

Frothy Monkey breakfast. The Monkey Bowl or the breakfast sandwich.

Biscuit Love at the Gulch. Opens at 7 AM. A 12-minute walk or 5-minute Lyft. Worth it.

Loveless Cafe. A 20-minute drive but iconic biscuits.

1892 at the Hermitage Hotel. Opens at 7 AM. Highest-quality downtown breakfast. Worth $30 once during a trip.

What’s open for early drinks

Margaritaville. Opens at 8 AM most days. If you want a frozen drink at 8:30 AM, this is the spot.

Acme. Opens at 11 AM. First “real” Broadway bar to open.

Most hotel bars open at 11 AM with room service drinks available earlier.

The sunrise walk

Start at Riverfront Park at the east end. Walk west on Broadway. Stop for photos at Tootsie’s, Robert’s, Layla’s, Honky Tonk Central. You can take pictures without anyone photobombing you. 25 minutes round-trip.

What to do with early hours

Country Music Hall of Fame. Opens at 9 AM. One block off Broadway.

Ryman Auditorium tour. Opens at 9 AM. Backstage tour is $45.

Frist Art Museum. Opens at 10 AM. 1934 Art Deco building.

The hangover stack

Coffee at Frothy Monkey by 8 AM. Big breakfast at Biscuit Love by 9 AM. Walk Riverfront Park 30 minutes. Country Music Hall of Fame 90 minutes. Lunch at Acme at noon.

Bottom line

Broadway before 10 AM is coffee, breakfast, a sunrise walk, and museum time. Not honky-tonk drinking.

For the rest of the day, the venue guide. For when bands start playing, the live schedule. For reliable hotel breakfast, where to stay near Broadway.

Drink coffee. Walk the empty strip. Save the whiskey for noon.
